Description: The shot dates back to the liberation of Saigon which was the final battle of the Vietnam war and the Ho Chi Minh campaign, and which started the reunification of Vietnam in a single socialist state led by the Communist Party of Vietnam. It represents a Vietnamese soldier in the presence of the corpse of a girl. The title, “the civilians”, emphasizes the foreignness of civilians from war that in reality does not exclude anyone. The photo denounces the trail of blood that the war brings with it. Behind, in a scenery of buildings partially destroyed and in flames, two other civilians pass almost without care of the girl on the ground, as if death had become a daily and customary phenomenon.
