Descrizione: Venerdì 1º marzo, circa 4.000 persone si radunarono in Piazza di Spagna, animando un corteo che si divise in una parte diretta alla città universitaria ed un’altra maggioranza a Valle Giulia, nell’intenzione di riprendere l’occupazione della facoltà. Giunti sul posto, gli studenti si trovarono davanti ad un imponente cordone di forze dell’ordine, e durante il fronteggiamento che ne seguì, un piccolo gruppo di poliziotti si separò per affrontare con violenza uno studente isolato; il collettivo reagì con lancio di sassi ed oggetti contundenti. Gli scontri presto degenerarono in tutta l’area universitaria e, sorprendentemente, gli studenti mostrarono di essere in grado di reggere l’urto con le cariche della polizia, a differenza di quanto accaduto in precedenti scontri.

Description: On Friday 1 March, about 4,000 people gathered in Piazza di Spagna, animating a procession that split into a part directed to the university city and another majority in Valle Giulia, with the intention of resuming occupation of the faculty. Once in place, the students found themselves in front of an imposing cordon of law enforcement, and during the coping that followed, a small group of policemen separated to face an isolated student with violence; the collective reacted with throwing stones and blunt objects. The clashes soon degenerated throughout the university area and, surprisingly, the students showed that they were able to withstand the impact of police charges, unlike what happened in previous clashes.

Descrizione: La foto appartiene a una raccolta di immagini che raccontano la primavera romana del 1968, quando Fausto Giaccone, nato in Toscana e cresciuto a Palermo, era iscritto ad Architettura a Valle Giulia, fulcro della protesta studentesca. Già appassionato di fotografia, dopo aver documentato quei giorni in cui gli studenti irruppero nella vita pubblica italiana decise di lavorare come fotoreporter. In questa foto viene colto l’attimo in cui uno studente interviene nella discussione nell’assemblea nell’ Aula Magna della Facoltà di Architettura.

Description: The photo belongs to a collection of images that tellS the Roman spring of 1968, when Fausto Giaccone, born in Tuscany and raised in Palermo, was enrolled in Architecture in Valle Giulia, fulcrum of the student protest. Already fond of photography, after documenting those days when students burst into Italian public life, he decided to work as a photojournalist. In this photo the moment is seized in which a student intervenes in the discussion in the assembly in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Architecture.

Descrizione: Janis Lyn Joplin è stata una cantante statunitense. Divenne nota verso la fine degli anni sessanta come cantante del gruppo Big Brother and the Holding Company, e successivamente per i suoi lavori da solista. La sua carriera continuò fino alla morte per overdose all’età di 27 anni. Condivise apertamente l’ideale Peace & Love che caratterizzò il movimento hippy: partecipò con altri cantanti e gruppi musicali al Festival di Woodstock e al concerto in memoria di Martin Luther King. Lo stile emancipato della Joplin fu votato alla difesa dell’uguaglianza fra bianchi e neri e sostenuto da una particolare ammirazione per la musica delle sue cantanti blues preferite.  

Description: Janis Lyn Joplin was an American singer. It became known in the late sixties as a singer of the Big Brother and the Holding Company group, and later for his solo work. His career continued until he died of an overdose at the age of 27. He openly shared the Peace & Love ideal that characterized the hippy movement: he participated with other singers and musical groups in the Woodstock Festival and in the concert in memory of Martin Luther King. Joplin’s emancipated style was devoted to defending equality between whites and blacks and supported by a particular admiration for the music of his favorite blues singers.

Descrizione: Il movimento del Sessantotto in Italia è stato ispirato dal disgusto per la società tradizionale italiana e dalla volontà di seguire l’esempio dei vari movimenti di protesta internazionali che mettevano al centro delle loro lotte i diritti civili, le libertà personali e l’uguaglianza sociale. Nel maggio 1968 tutte le università, ad eccezione della Bocconi, furono occupate. Nello stesso mese un centinaio di artisti, tra cui Giò Pomodoro, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Ernesto Treccani e Gianni Dova, occuparono per 15 giorni il Palazzo della Triennale. Nell’immagine si vedono gli studenti delle università romane manifestare in favore della libertà dell’istruzione e per una università meno classista e libera dallo strapotere dei “baroni”.

Description: The movement of the sixty-eight in Italy was inspired by the disgust for the traditional Italian society and the will to follow the example of the various international protest movements that put at the center of their struggles the civil rights, personal freedoms and social equality. In May 1968 all the universities, with the exception of Bocconi, were occupied. In the same month a hundred artists, including Pomodoro, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Ernesto treccani and Gianni dova, occupied the Palazzo della Triennale for 15 days. In the image we see the students of the Roman universities demonstrating in favor of the freedom of education and for a less classist university free from the overwhelming power of the barons”.

Descrizione: Nel 1969 Janis Joplin intraprende una carriera da solista e inizia il suo tour accompagnata dal gruppo Kozmic Blues Band. Durante questo tour, in particolare nel Marzo del 1969, Janis si trova a New York per esibirsi al Fillmore East,nel quartiere East Village di Manhattan. Dopo il concerto Janis e il suo gruppo alloggiano al Chelsea Hotel, storico hotel principalmente conosciuto per aver ospitato per lunghi periodi di tempo scrittori, musicisti e artisti come Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Jack Kerouac e Charles Bukowski.

Description: In 1969 Janis Joplin embarked on a solo career and began his tour accompanied by the Kozmic Blues Band. During this tour, especially in March 1969, Janis is in New York to perform at the Fillmore East, in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan. After the concert Janis and his group stay at the Chelsea Hotel, a historic hotel mainly known for hosting writers, musicians and artists such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Jack Kerouac and Charles Bukowski for long periods of time.

L’8 Dicembre 1980 viene assassinato da un fan in cerca di notorietà.
